Nutrition for Women 65+

Herself Health has opened numerous clinics around the Twin Cities Metro Area

Lucky me! I’m working with Herself Health, a comprehensive healthcare solution developed to improve health outcomes for women 65 and above and their overall quality of life.

Nearly one in five women said they have been treated differently because of their gender, compared to one in 20 men.

All women deserve to feel comfortable with and empowered by the healthcare they receive. Herself Health is doing just that in the care they provide to women and takes it a step further with special programming offerings. On any given day you’ll find programming Herself Health clinics designed to build community, educate, entertain, empower and live their life well.

I’m honored to have been selected as a partner offering plant-based nutrition education and cooking classes to Herself Health clients and any members of the public (regardless of age) interested in attending (all are welcome!). The clinic is beautiful, warm, welcoming and modern- nothing like the boring beige medical clinics we’re all used to.

Our first class offering was, How Foods Fight Cancer. We learned about the power of nutrition and focused very specifically on fiber. Fiber is only found in plants and is imperative to a healthy, functioning body. We made three delicious recipes featuring fiber rich foods, spotlighting one ingredient in particular- legumes. Chickpeas, edamame, black beans, peas and kidney beans were featured items in our plant-based feast. Every attendee left full and satiated and asked when the next class will be :)

If you have interest in learning more about how adopting a plant-based diet can prevent disease and/or improve health, reach out. Want your healthcare provider to bring plant-based education to your clinic? Ask them and share my information. Potentially life-saving information should be available to everyone, our healthcare system should feel a responsibility to make it accessible. In a recent study only 28% of women mentioned diet as a method of prevention for breast cancer. We have work to do.
